Admission Procedure

  Admission Procedure

SAIMC believes in alignment of aspirations towards excellence and perfection. The admission procedure has been designed not only to test the ability and intelligence, it primarily looks at awareness, keenness and openness to learn the subject one has chosen to pursue as the career.

The selection procedure begins with filling up of the admission form itself and ends with the personal interview. The entire process is prepared towards evaluating the student on several parameters – interest and information of the subject that you intent to study, communication skills, original thinking, analytical bent of mind, knowledge of current affairs and language.

The entrance test is held at select cities across the country in the first week of June. The entrance test is a mix of objective type questions with multiple choices and writing as per the course applied for. As part of the test, pictures, short films, advertisements (depending on the course applied) will be shown to critically analyze it.

Students short-listed from the entrance test will be called for a group discussion (for Journalism and Advertising & PR) and interview to be held in the first week of July at the institute. The interview panel comprising HODs, Mentors and faculty members discuss your personal keenness and perception of the subject chosen as your career.

As per our teaching methodology, we believe that media professionals can’t be mass - produced and each student needs to be given special care and attention. Hence, we have limited seats in each department and specialization.

Though there is no such strict apportionment of evaluation, your participation on the admission procedure is broadly segmented in the following way:

(For Journalism in English, Journalism in Hindi, Advertising & PR)

20% on the application form
25% on the written test
25% group discussion
30% on personal discussion

(For Film Production, Television Production and Creative Photography)

30% on the application form
30% on the written test
40% on personal discussion

After evaluating the performance at various levels of interviews, the selected candidates will be invited to join SAIMC. Along with it we prepare a waiting list of applicants just in case there is a vacancy due to someone forfeiting the opportunity of joining. The batch usually commences from 1st of August every year.
